I recently heard a Hewlett Packard executive describe current and upcoming products in a framework he labeled the “digital ecosystem.”

At first, I was taken aback.

I’d always thought of ecosystems in terms of living organisms. But, data is hardly static, is it?

Ecosystem implies interaction among a number of elements. Anybody involved with data-driven marketing understands that.

Which was his point, exactly!

While many companies (and organizations) have embraced digital marketing online, too few realize they can extend that same approach offline as well.

Now, digital production techniques enable us to deliver (offline) the same individualized immediacy our customers and prospects have come to expect online. That’s powerful.
